Leadership training is not learned from courses, but through experiences out in the field. The experiences need to be structured to be successful, where through observation and actual participation your aspiring colleagues and future business leaders will learn faster and more effectively.
SteynWaters has developed a 3 day module in partnership with professional AFMGI qualified mountain guides, where a search and rescue procedure on a Swiss or Italian Glacier is re-enacted. One of your colleagues will be hidden in a hole in the Glacier and as a team you will need to search and rescue her/him at short notice, but in a safe manner to all your teammates of searchers. You might be using rescue dogs, probes, ropes, avalanche monitors, drones, anything to find and safe your colleague.
The importance of this exercise is to be disciplined, organised and not over-react and bring others in danger for the sake of speed, which are common attributes in a fast growing business.
This SteynWaters Leadership event requires a day of pre-training with the guides in the mountains and an overnight stay in a comfortable but typical mountain hut at the foot of the Glacier.
The result: positive leadership, problem solving during stressful times, taking control and responsibility.
